Michigan Radio is looking for an online news intern to help produce and improve the content available on michiganradio.org, and to help with maintaining the station's social media channels.

This paid internship starts as soon as possible, and will run through April 27, 2018.

Interns will search for relevant news stories and help create daily posts for online news publication.

They will work with content created by Michigan Radio reporters and format copy, add photos or videos, add links, build maps, create polls, and come up with other creative content to improve story presentation.

The online news intern will also work with reporters to prepare stories for online publication ahead of time. Depending on the projects that come up, other duties could include gathering and taking photos, shooting video, and gathering or producing audio.

The online news intern will also assist Michigan Radio's Social Media Producer when needed.

The online news intern will develop insights into multimedia production and presentation.

They will also become familiar with how a public radio station in a major market operates.

Applicants should have strong interest and/or knowledge of online news and online news presentation.

They should also have strong writing and communication skills and be self-motivated and dependable. Knowledge of multimedia software applications is a plus.

A 15-20 hour/week commitment during normal business hours is requested.

Stateside Internship
Michigan Radio is looking for interns to help produce Stateside, Michigan Radio’s daily news magazine.  This paid internship runs from early January 2018 through May 2018. 

Responsibilities:
Interns will help pitch ideas, book guests, record audio, assist with social media, and write web posts. Stateside interns will develop insights into daily show production, gain real-world journalism experience in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, and become familiar with how a public radio station in a major market operates.

The investigative unit intern will assist with investigating and conducting research for Michigan Radio’s investigative reporter. The internship will require applicants to handle tasks involved in the everyday operation of a radio newsroom, with a special emphasis on document review and FOIA activity. The internship is research intensive but other duties may include collecting and editing audio, writing news copy, and attending press conferences.

Michigan Radio, the public radio station of the University of Michigan, is seeking a creative podcast trainer/producer to work on our Detroit Journalism Cooperative project. The individual will work with Michigan Radio to identify interested community members in the MorningSide neighborhood, and assist them in the creation and production of a hyper-local neighborhood news and community affairs podcast.  This is a one-year term limited appointment with benefits. January 2018 through December 2018.
